RIPE DK LEE VISITS DISTRICT 3830




RCMSL attended the RIPE Luncheon at the Mandarin Hotel hosted by RC Makati West and RC Paranaque South last October 16. 5 members from the group were present during the luncheon namely: Pres. Erwyn Alcomendras, PE Chacha Camacho, PP Maridel Villavicencio, PP Cynthia Reyes and PP Carol Mercado. The venue was jam-packed with more than 300+ Rotarian. RIPE DK Lee gave a very inspiring message on how to be a TRUE Rotarian by heart.

COOPERATE NOT COMPETE, RCMSL PARTNERED WITH RC LAS PINAS EAST AND RC MUNTINLUPA CITY CENTER



RCMSL partnered with RC Las Pinas East and RC Muntinlupa City Center in reaching more people for the dissemination of the Gynecological Cancer Prevention Campaign. VCDs and Leaflets containing information on how to detect and prevent Cervical Cancer. Instead of competing, we cooperate with other clubs to implement projects better and to reach more beneficiary. RC Las Pinas East was headed by Sharing President Bita and RC Muntinlupa Center was headed by Sharing President Gae Apale.

DR. AMELIA OBUSAN TALKS ABOUT SODIUM ASCORBATE



Our guest speaker last week was Dr. Amelia Reyes Obusan who talked about the benefits of Vitamin C in our body. Unlike Ascorbic Acid, sodium ascorbate vitamin C is more potent, can be easily absorb by the body and is more beneficial to ones health. A demo on the conductivity and solubility of different Vitamin C in the market were done for comparison. Our members are always interested for topics that are related to health and wellness.

GIFT GIVING WITH SIBOL KIDS AT GK WELFAREVILLE



Friends of the Club Dion and Jenny Butler gave school supplies and educational toys to our adopted Sibol Kids at GK Welfareville. Dion and Jenny were accompanied by Pia and Dwight Lago along with PP Maridel Villavicencio and Dir. Odette Ong.

JOINT MEETING WITH RC MAKATI WEST



RCMSL co-hosted a joint meeting last October 4, 2007 with RC Makati West. The guest speaker was Sen. Mar Roxas. There are 17 members from RCMSL who attended the joint meeting. We have the biggest delegation among the co-host club saside from RC Makati West which is the Lead Club.

RCMSL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT TULOY SA DON BOSCO


RCMSL will continuously support Tuloy sa Don Bosco thru PP Maridel Villavicencio who was elected as the Vice President for Rotary Streetchildren Foundation. She is also a Board of Trustee for Tuloy Foundation.

NEWGEN CONFERENCE at UMAK




RCMSL is one of the 20 host clubs who co-hosted the New Generation Conference at the University of Makati. There were around 350 youth delegates who attended the event. The attendees of NEWGEN were privilege to listen to people who are successful in their own right. The event was graced by the SINAG Team from DLSU, TJ Manotoc, Shiela Viesca, Mikki Fudolig, The Everest Team and Mr. Francis Kong. Mr. Francis Kong was the most powerful speaker during the NEWGEN Conference. He talked about Values Integration in Leadership and Entrepreneurship. Francis Kong was invited by Pres. Erwyn to the said event.

SAYAW FOUNDATION



RCMSL members supported the Sayaw Fooundation by attending its event last Sept. 27. The current Secretary of Sayaw Foundation is RCMSL's President-Elect Chacha Camacho. Sayaw Foundation is an organization who teaches less fortunate kids ballet and other dances for free.

ROTARY INFORMATION SEMINAR



RCMSL attended the Rotary information seminar organized by DCC Jay Tambunting and DCC Maridel Villavicencio. Our Club has the biggest delegation of attendees with 18 participants. Our new member, Anne Marie Gonzales was inducted during that meeting. Anne Marie is a recruit of Rtn. Jing Sarao.

PRESIDENT LEADERSHIP TRAINING by GUTHRIE JENSEN


Guthrie Jensen conducted a President Leadership Training attended by the Sharing Presidents. The workshop was really informative. The video lab exercise was the best part of the training wherein our videos were taken while we were doing a speech/presentation. This helped us critique ourselves on the right way of doing a presentation or speech.

MOA with MAYOR JV EJERCITO


Mayor JV Ejercito supported the Gynecological Cancer prevention campaign of RCMSL. VCDs and Leaflets were endorsed to the City of San Juan for distribution to the barangays, health centers schools and hospitals in the area.

TEAM VISIT


Last August 16, 2007, we had our team visit. AG Paul, DCC Fritz Ocampo and DCC Boboy Intal visited our club to discuss our plans and objectives. We were given advised by the District Officers who visited us on how we will be able to implement our plans and objectives effectively.

BAHAY NG DIYOS FOUNDATION


Ms. Noemi Saludo, founder of Bahay ng Diyos foundation was our speaker last Sept 13, 2007. Her talk was very inspiring on how she was able to hear her calling to serve the Lord. Her mission now is to rebuild and improve the churches in the Philippines that is why she established the Bahay ng Diyos Foundation.

As our continuing adult literacy project - Gynecological Cancer Prevention Campaign, we endorsed VCDs and leaflets to the City of Makati. Mayor Jejomar Binay accepted the VCDs and Leaflets from PP Carol Mercado, PP Marilou Romero and IPP Tyrone Paynor.

FOREIGN SISTER CLUBS VISIT PHILIPPINES




16 members from RC Taipei Capital and 6 members from Hong Kong Channel Island attended our induction. After the induction we gave our sister clubs the Filipino style hospitality. It is always enjoyable having our foreign club visit us since they are fun to be with. The pictures speak for itself.

"SAMBA NIGHT" INDUCTION




RCMSL had its 15th Induction of Officers and Directors last August 30, 2007 at North Greenhills Clubhouse. The Induction was graced by no less than Gov. 12 LITTLE THINGS EVERY FILIPINO CAN DO TO HELP OUR COUNTRY



Our speaker last August 9 is Mr, Alex Lacson. He is the author of the best selling book “12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do To Help Our Country”. RICE DONATION TO TULOY SA DON BOSCO


RCMSL represented by PP Maridel Villavicencio handover the donation of P33,750 to the Rotary Street Children Foundation for Rice Donation to Tuloy sa Don Bosco. Receiving the donation is the President of the Rotary Street Children Foundation Magic Ong from District 3810.

FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY



Our August 2, 2007 meeting was the first General Assembly of RCMSL. We discussed various issues of the club. The most important item discussed was the membership situation of the club. All members are encouraged to bring at least 1 new member to achieve our goal of increasing our membership to 50. We also took the chance to have our first practice session for our SAMBA presentation for our induction.

FELLOWSHIP AT DR. ROD'S BIRTHDAY



RCMSL members had their fellowship during the birthday celebration of Dr. Rod Villanueva, the spouse of Rotarian Alice Villanueva. As always the fellowship was fun with lots of food and singing.
PP Geoffrey Little of RC North Sydney Sunrise D9680, Dean of Ambassadorial Chair, Rotary District Peace Communities Programme was in town and he also attended the fellowship. Establishing A Peace City in other parts of the country was discussed.

ROTARY ACADEMY - MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR



RCMSL co-hosted the Membership Development Seminar at AIM Training Center. 5 members of the Club attended the seminar and workshop. The attendees were PP Maridel Villavicencio (Coordinating Chairman for Membership – Cluster 6), PP Cynthia Reyes, PP Beth La-O, IPP Tyrone Paynor and Pres. Erwyn Alcomendras. The seminar is informative and fun. Gov. Ato presented to the Rotarian of District 3830 the membership situation of the District and encourage all clubs to recruit new members. PP Marge Lamberte gave a very informative workshop and PP Rene Aquino made the members dance and sing.

FEEDING PROGRAM IN COOPERATION WITH GAWAD KALINGA


RCMSL started its once a month feeding program with Sibol Kids at GK Village in Welfareville, Mandaluyong. This year, our club decided to make the once a month feeding program to a daily feeding program. RCMSL released the first quarter budget for the feeding program to Mr. Norbert Alunan, Coordinator for GK Sibol. 32 Sibol kids will be benefited by this project.

MEETING WITH TESDA



Col. Rey Sylvestre, former member of the club, is now connected with TESDA. We were given an insights about TESDA's Ladderized Tertiary Education. A student who cannot afford to go directly to college can take a Tech-Voc course in TESDA for free so that he will be able to earn and at the same time continue his college education. The tech-voc units will be credited to his college subjects. RCMSL is conceptualizing a project in partnership in TESDA.

GOV. BONG CARRION SUPPORTS RCMSL GYNECOLOGICAL CANCER PREVENTION CAMPAIGN


Gov. Bong Carrion of the province of Marinduque supports the Gynecological Cancer Prevention Campaign of RCMSL. VCDs and Leaflets will be disseminated to schools, barangays, health centers and hospital in the province of Marinduque. The objective of this campaign is to educate and increase the awareness of women on cervical cancer, its early detection and possible prevention. The project is in partnership with RC Taipei Capital

JOINT MEETING WITH RC MAKATI EAST



RC Makati San Lorenzo and RC Makati East had joint meeting last July 13, 2007. Our guest speaker was Mayor JV Ejercito who presented his plans and programs for the City of San Juan. RC Makati San Lorenzo gave a plaque of appreciation to Mayor JV Ejercito for supporting the Medical Mission of RCMSL, RCME and Association of Philippine Physician of New York (APPNY). Mayor JV in return gave RCMSL the Gawad Parangal Award for holding the medical mission in the City of San Juan.
