Halloween Party and New Members Initiation






Members enjoyed each others company during the Halloween Party. Some came in their scary costumes while others in their fairy tale costumes. Pres. Jing was in her beautiful Cinderella Costume. On to Montreal Launch






Rotarians converged to Makati Sports for the On to Montreal Launch. Everybody came with their most authentic "frenchy" attire. The Guest of Honor that night was His Excellency Robert Desjardin, Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines, who talked about what Montreal can offer to Rotarians who will be joining the RI Convention. Pres. Jing is one of the segment host for the night.

Membership Workshop






RCMSL co-hosted the membership workshop held at RCM office, Camia St., Makati last October 24, 2009. Powerful speakers were invited to discuss strategies on Membership Recruitment and Retention headed by PDG Roberto Viray. PP Ernie Angeles, PP Uly Sevilla and PP Rene Aquino were also there as Resource Speakers. Pres. Jing Sarao and Pres. Alamat Resuello were the Masters of Ceremonies.

Octoberfest 2009



RCMSL Members attended the annual Octoberfest at McKinley Hills, Fort Bonifacio. Beers were served to all guests to celebrate this German Tradition.

Regular Meeting - Guest Speaker is Sylvia Lichauco De Leon






After all the service projects, we are again back to Manila Polo Club for our regular meeting. Our speaker is Sylvia Lichauco De Leon. She discussed about Women's and children's rights. The Magna Carta for Women was discussed and as expected the women of RCSML were very participative in the discussion since most of them are also women's rights advocates. Before the meeting, members of the Halloween Committee met to discuss our annual Halloween celebration and new members initiation.

Book Donation to Muzon Elementary School






RCMSL donated books to Muzon Elementary School. Receiving the books is Principal Raquel R. Pinon. Muzon Elementary school has 2,350 students. Redencion Cecogo, the librarian, was not around during the book donation.

4 in 1 Literacy Project






RCMSL with RC Metro East Taytay and RC Paco Manila had a 4 in 1 literacy project for Grade 5 and Grade 6 students of Muzon Elementary School. We had a film showing about rabies, its causes, prevention and cure. The video is courtesy of National Rabies Center of San Lazaro Hospital. We also did a presentation on the causes of dengue and how to prevent it. Since its been in the news that most people who were victims of the flood are getting leptospirosis, we also gave some inputs to the children about the causes of leptospirosis, its symptoms and what are the possible remedies. The last presentation was about proper oral hygiene. The seminar ended with us distributing toothbrushes and toothpaste to the students. About 250 students attended the 4 in 1 Literacy Project.

Vitamin A Drops to Grade 1 Students





RCMSL in partnership with RC Metro East Taytay conducted a Vitamin A drops campaign to Grade 1 students of Muzon Elementary School. There were 300 students who received Vitamin A drops. Vitamin A deficiency causes blindness to children. This project will supplement the vitamin A requirements of children to avoid any cases of lost of eyesight in the future.

Book Donation to Taytay Elementary School Central






The last school we went to for the book donation is Taytay Elementary School Central. This is also where we distributed relief goods to 300 students who were severely affected by the flood. We were welcomed by Principal Lourdez Gerardo and Librarian Durna Guevarra. The schools has 2256 students and 51 teachers. All the schools we went to offered snacks and the last school prepared lunch for us.

Book Donation to Taytay Elementary School Unit-I






Taytay Elementary School Unit 1 has the most organized library. They were spared from the flood however they need more books to be used by 1375 students. Principal Minerva C. David, Librarian Marissa Moldon and 28 teachers appreciated very much the book donation to their school.

Book Donation to San Isidro Elementary School






San Isidro Elementary school is the most affected school that we went to. As per Principal Juanita Z. Umali, the estimate of books damaged by the flood is around 700,000 pesos. You will see in the pictures that there are books hanged on the fence to dry them up. Mr. Archie Dela Rosa, the librarian, appreciated the donation of books since they are reconstructing their library. San Isidro Elementary schools has 2,309 students with 52 teachers.
