PRESIDENT NOMINEE - JING SARAO

Congratulations to Jing Sarao for being chosen as the President Nominee. She will start her term RY 2009-2010. Supporting Jing is her spouse Ed Sarao. Jing has been in the club for more than 10 years and its about time that she become President. As we always say to our new President..."We will be behind you!". Congrats Jing!

CHRISTMAS PARTY AND DECEMBER BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION




RCMSL celebrated Christmas the spanish way - FELIZ Navidad. We had chorizo and jamon jabugo for appetizer. For main course its that traditional spanish food like paella, lengua, callos and roast beef. You can RCMSL's interpretation of the "Belen" with Alice Villanueva as Mary, Jing Sarao as Joseph, Marie as the Sheep and Jimmy as Jesus. We also celebrated the birthday of the December celebrants: Chacha, Mano, Joanne and Tyrone. Merry Christmas to my RCMSL Family.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR DECEMBER



We had our 6th General Assembly last Dec. 13. Before the general assembly we had our monthly board meeting. We discussed the projects we did for the 1st half of the rotary year as well as the projects we are going to implement for the next half of the year. Toto Malvar and Mayor Vic Sumulong attended our general assembly and updated us on the development of our adapted barangay in Calawis, Antipolo. We already lined up our activity for our RCC in Calawis, Antipolo next year.

DECEMBER FELLOWSHIP DURING THE BIRTHDAY OF PE CHACHA CAMACHO


December is Rotary Family month. There is no better way of celebrating this month than involving our family with our activities. We had a grand time with the birthday party of PE Chacha at Teatrino. RCMSL members with their spouses enjoyed the ballroom dancing especially the line dance. Fellowship like this strengthen the bonding not only of Rotarians but also of our family members.

DR. CESAR POBRE TALKED TO OUR CLUB REGARDING THE QUEST FOR NATIONAL IDENTITY

Dr. Cesar Pobre, a retired Colonel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines graced our meeting and talked about the Quest for National Identity. Being a historian himself, he traced our lack of national identity from the other nationalities who conquered us like the Spanish and American. According to have a national identity, initially we should have a national language. We had a very interesting discussion with members giving their own opinion on how to have our own national identity.

ADOPTION OF BRGY. CALAWIS AS RCMSL RCC LAUNCHED



Brgy. Calawis, Antipolo will be the new RCC of RCMSL. Brgy. Calawis has 8000 population with 2000 families. RCMSL has launched the adoption of this barangay with the help of Mayor Vic Sumulong of Antipolo, Barangay officers and SK Officers. We will start with implementing livelihood program for the community who are mostly indigents and katutubos. We will also be organizing our Rotaract and Interact from this community. The youth will be truly our partners in service in making Brgy. Calawis a sustainable community. Formal induction of RCC, Rotaract and Interact officers is scheduled this coming January 2008.

NOVEMBER FELLOWSHIP WITH THE BIRTHDAY CELEBRANTS

Despite the incident at Manila Peninsula and the the curfew imposed on that day, RCMSL members joined the celebrations of our November celebrants at Jozu Japanese Resto at Timog, Q.C. The November Birthday celebrants are the following: Fred Bernardo, Jean Batac, Odette Ong, Munte Del Rosario and Maridel Villavicencio. Friend of the Club and November birthday celebrant, SP Dennis Belmonte, also joined the birthday celebration. No Trillanes or Curfew can prevent our club from meeting. This is how strong and close RCMSL members are.

RCMSL SUPPORTED PROLIFE ROCK 4 LIFE


RCMSL supported the Rock 4 Life concert organized by Pro-Life Philippines headed by Sis. Pilar Versoza. Sister Pilar is our Peace Awardee for RY 2006-2007. At present, we are already discussing vocational and community service in partnership with Pro-Life to our adopted community in Welfareville Mandaluyong. This project with Pro-Life is organized by Rtn. Marie O'Connor.
